Meant to be

When we came to the Humane Society of Huron Valley to adopt a cat, it was to see another cat. The other cat didn't work out, so we looked around the shelter. We went through all the rooms twice and hadn't felt a connection with any of the cats we had seen. We were there to get a cat for my father after we lost my mother to cancer in June.

We were about to give up and leave until I spotted a picture on her cage. I looked at my dad, and said, "I wish we could see her." At that very moment, Sasha poked her head around the corner and walked slowly to the front of the cage. Within just a few minutes, we knew she had chosen us to be her forever family. We finished the adoption paperwork and took advantage of the senior citizen adoption program, so she was free.

The first night in our home, she immediately made herself at home. We were told to keep her in a small area until she got comfortable with our family, and we put her in a small room. Within a few hours, she figured out how to open the door and join us in the other areas of the house.

That was six months ago, and she has brought so much joy to our household. We are so thankful for places like the Humane Society of Huron Valley! If it wasn't for you, then we wouldn't have Sasha. She filled a void we didn't know was there. She is a happy, spoiled rotten and well adjusted kitty. We love her so much.
