We needed her as much as she needed us.

It has been just over a year and a half since we took Roma home. And I never knew that after loosing our dog Charlie to cancer that we could love another animal as much as him.

About a week after we lost Charlie I received a text message from my wife with just a picture of this cute little puppy at the Humane Society. I really wasn't in the mood to look for a new dog. But she told me that I had to see this one that she had found, her name was Roma.

A couple days went by and as I returned home, the first thing my wife asked me to do was head up to see this puppy that she couldn't stop talking about. I agreed. I was a little emotional walking through the halls looking at all of the dogs and puppies that were up for adoption, but held it together as we made our way to the puppy room.

As we walked in, there she was, jumping a wining just waiting for one of us to pick her up. I felt terrible because I had just lost my best friend to cancer, and here we are looking for a new dog a couple weeks later.

We made our way to one of the play rooms and I knew instantly that she was the one that we were going to be taking home. As guilty as I felt I knew that my wife and I needed this puppy as much as she need us.

Roma just turned 2 the other day, and celebrated by going to Mackinaw Island and camping for the first time. She goes bananas every time one of us walks through the front door returning home from work. Loves playing with our two cats and is one of the most loving dogs that I have ever come across.
