Barnaby - how old is 16 years in dog years? Barnaby (previously known as Coco) was adopted in May 2009 at HSHV as a "Diamond in the Ruff." We had been wanting to adopt a "senior dog" who would be a friend to our family of 3 spoiled cats. I walked Barnaby at the shelter and upon re-entering the shelter, he planted his feet, not wanting to leave me. That was it! We immediately started the paperwork to adopt him. We renamed him Barnaby and he quickly became the best thing to happen to our family. He's in his forever home! He is now a vigorous and healthy 16 year old, and enjoys daily walks in our neighborhood, weekly jaunts in the summer to the Plymouth Farmer's Market, and has his own identification badge as a volunteer visitor to a local hospice. And like many Michigan residents, he spends part of the winter in Sanibel Island, where he loves long walks on the beach and sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. -Mary Ann Schrock-Hoffman |
