All he wanted was somewhere to rest his head

I found Fenton in 2007 when HSHV was at the PetSmart in Ann Arbor. I hadn't gone with the intention of adopting a cat, but I was drawn to his orange tabby looks and his shy demeanor. I took him home that day. He was about a year and a half at the time, and he had many "quirks." He seemed to behave like he was abused, cowering away from anything that might hurt him. I was gentle with him and showed him the love he needed, and he returned the favor. I promised him that he would never go back to the shelter again, however, I broke that promise in 2011 when I learned that my daughter might be allergic. He spent one night in the shelter before we had to go back and get him. And, as it turned out, my daughter wasn't allergic to cats (or dogs).

He has been through break ups, and babies, and moves with me. We recently moved to Saline, and I was worried about how he would take it, as the other moves were very anxious for him, but he handled it well, I believe that he knew he was coming with us and had nothing to worry about.

We recently added to our home, with Gio, a kitten. Fenton and Gio are best buds. They instantly got along, and wanted to be near each other from the start. Gio is playful, and that has brought out a playful side in Fenton that he has needed for a long time. I hope we have many more years with them both.
