Life with Doris When I came into HSHV to adopt a cat, it was a completely new experience. I had no idea what I was doing. My family had never had a cat (or dog) when I was a kid. I went up to the first cat I was interested in and interacted with her. She seemed nice so I decided to take her home despite some potential red flags in her past. The research I did beforehand suggested new cats usually hide for a few weeks before starting to interact with their new people. The red flags and the research were all wrong. Doris sat in my lap her first night in her new home and slept next to me in my bed that same evening. She has never exhibited any of the bad behavior attributed to her by her previous owner and our first two years together have been great. I'm so glad we ended up together and she will be my little princess for the rest of her life. |
