A Jack to Complement the Border Collies

A Jack to Complement the Border Collies

If you have Border Collies, it's only a matter of time until you get a Jack.

When my wife and I met Tempo (a.k.a., Harvey), we were not looking for another dog (we already had more than most people would consider reasonable). With our collection at home of mostly Border Collies, we're no stranger to intense, active, hyper-intelligent dogs. Many Border Collies come from farms. Jack Russells are also often farm dogs. While the Collies keep the sheep in line, the Russells keep everyone else in line. Commonly, you'll see Jacks and Border Collies together, and so it was only natural that we were destined to get a Jack as well. And not just any Jack, but this one. He is all of 12 pounds, but has a huge personality. He makes us laugh every day and challenges us as well. He really keeps us on our toes as professional dog trainers and provides us with plenty of examples of how to apply the things we teach to our students. He is a fierce cuddler and a tenacious student. He is playful and adventurous and sweet, and we just love him.
