It all started with a move, California to Michigan
To HSHV we went to look
Little orange kitten in cage 6
Pouncing on his cage mate
"I must adopt the crazy one" I said
Not knowing what was to come
Milo is his name, just him and I for one year
While volunteering, a kitty caught my eye
Overflowing with cat cages in the hallway
Atticus sitting in front, with one leg gone astray
Hopping around and being sweet
Had to think, "2 cats for 1 human?"
Adopted after stealing my heart
Three more years living in A2
Time to move from Michigan to Oregon
Two cats, two humans, one car
Seven days of driving, five nights in motels
Ten nights in a warm home with family
Calm kitties, who meowed in the mornings
Chewed out of the crate only twice
The crazy one was to blame, with his three legged accomplice
Head bumps and purrs every evening
So surprised at resilience, I'm still beaming
"Good kitty boys" I say with a smile
