HSHV scores "Best Chef in America" for fundraiser

Eat, drink, and help animals

James Beard Award winner Chef Alex Young will be serving a gourmet vegetarian dinner Friday, November 14 to benefit the Humane Society of Huron Valley. All proceeds from this “Compassionate Feast” will go to support homeless, abused and injured animals in our community.

“Come to the Compassionate Feast and you will not only fill your belly with delicious gourmet food, but also you will help fill the bowls of countless homeless animals,” says Tanya Hilgendorf, CEO and President for the Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV).

The Compassionate Feast is a critical fundraiser for HSHV, an organization rated “4/4 stars” by Charity Navigator for its financial transparency and fiscal prudence. HSHV is not affiliated with or funded by any other humane organization, and relies on private donations and fundraisers like the Compassionate Feast in order to save the lives of animals.

Compassionate Feasters will enjoy a four-course farm-fresh vegetarian meal at Zingerman’s Cornman Farms, a sprawling 42-acre estate and leader in the “farm-to-table” fresh food movement. The $200 “Farmhouse ticket” includes a pre-dinner reception with Chef Alex Young in the farmhouse kitchen.  The $125 “Barn ticket” includes a general reception. The event will also include a silent auction in a beautifully restored pre-Civil War barn, and event goers will be treated to many heartwarming stories about animals.
