Date:
Monday, April 21, 2014
Time:
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Location:
HSHV Conf. Room

IceCubeBarnIf you’ve decided you want to be an advocate for feral cats, HSHV would love to have you attend one of our Community Cat Management training sessions.

You will learn why HSHV believes that Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) offers the greatest chance of success for feral cats. TNR involves trapping the cats in a colony, getting them spay/neutered, vaccinated for rabies where appropriate and marked for identification, then returning the feral cats to their territory. A caretaker provides food and shelter and monitors for any newcomers or other problems.

We will review what TNR really is - it is not about rescuing cats and finding them a home, rather it's about population control and permanently reducing the number of feral cats in an area. TNR is also about lowering stray intake and euthanasia rates, and creating better, less hostile environments for our communities feral cats.

If you want to become a certified colony manager, or become an HSHV volunteer and help with TNR, we will provide you with the training you need. Please sign up for one the following training sessions.
