The Big House 5k: Trail to the Victors
Big House 5K is a new running event for the regional Midwest area. The University of Michigan's rich athletics tradition began in 1865 and continues to this day, with the Wolverines claiming more than 50 national championships in 12 sports. Our students, faculty and staff also regularly participate in dozens of intramural, club sport and fitness activities.
The race, owned and managed by the University of Michigan Athletic Department working in conjunction with the Ann Arbor Track Club, will coincide with the spring football weekend. The race will begin near the Stephen M. Ross Athletic Campus and finish on the field of the revered University of Michigan football stadium, the Big House.
In 2014, $12 from each registration will go to support six local, non-profit beneficiaries and the Humane Society of Huron Valley was chosen as one of those non-profits. Any additional proceeds (after expenses) will also benefit the selected group of local non-profits.
On Saturday afternoon (April 5), we invite you to pick up your race packet at the main entrance to Crisler Center from noon - 7 p.m. Before or after picking up your packet, we encourage you to head over to the Big House for the Michigan football spring game, take in the baseball or softball series at the Wilpon Complex, or witness Michigan lacrosse in action at Michigan Stadium. Race day events include a 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run. The 5K is a USATF certified course.
Registration is required for this event. For more information and to register please click here.
