Dog Training - Headstart Puppy (4 Classes)
HSHV Education Center

Class Information

You will learn how to teach your puppy to:

  • Pay attention to you
  • Recognize its name in a variety of situations
  • Sit
  • Down
  • Come
  • Walk on a loose leash
  • Stay
  • Greet people politely rather than jumping on them
  • Settle
  • Stop biting (puppy mouthing)
  • Leave it

The class will also cover a variety of puppy raising issues.

The first night will provide a lot of information to get you started, a short introduction to the exercises, and some socialization of the puppies. Bring puppies the first week with a buckle collar, 4 to 6 foot leash, small soft treats that your puppy really likes, and a toy that your puppy really enjoys.

You may also want to bring a mat or towel for your puppy to rest on, and possibly a "stuffed" Kong for distractions. Please bring verification of vaccination records to the first class (at least second series of DHLP, Rabies (if your dog is 4 months or older), and Bordetella.

Dogs must be 12 weeks to 18 weeks with their second series of vaccinations completed.

Class space is limited to 10 dogs. Your registration fee of $120 includes a series of 4 classes.

Puppy classes are taught by Jerry Koszednar, CPDT-KA, and Linda Sell. We are very excited that they have agreed to conduct their classes here at HSHV in our Education Center.
