Empty the Shelters - by Bissell Pet Foundation HSHV
On Saturday, May 5, 2018, Bissell Pet Foundation will pay for all adoption fees for adult dogs and cats at HSHV!
To help the day go smoothly, please know:
Adult animals will be available for adoption. Some animals have special requirements. See currently available animals at www.hshv.org/adopt.
Prior to visiting an animal, you must complete an application. Do this at the shelter, or save time by completing one and turning it in prior to May 5!
You must show your driver's license or other government-issued ID. If your address does not match that on your ID, bring proof of address (e.g., a recent utility bill or lease).
You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt at HSHV.
If you have a dog and want to adopt another dog over 30 lbs, bring your dog with you AND at least one other adult to help handle your dog. (You'll need to visit our adoptable dogs without your dog at first, and therefore will need a handler to stay in the front area of our facility with your dog.) Dogs MUST be on non-retractable leashes and CANNOT be on choke or prong collars.
No reservations, no holds. First come, first approved, first adopted! All existing holds will expire and we will not be accepting any holds on Friday, May 4.
All animals adopted this day must be taken home the same day.
When our animals go home, they've received an initial health check and have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations (as appropriate to their age) and dewormed. Every adoption at HSHV also comes with a 30-day trial of pet illness and accident insurance, a discounted initial vet exam at the HSHV clinic, and free access to our behavior helpline.
